Artist Statement

Painting plein air exemplifies my approach to painting. My passion is being outdoors and painting directly from life in the traditions of such artists as Sorolla, Sargent, and Rungius. To capture on canvas, the light on the edge of a mountain or the hazy mist of the early morning gives a painting that ring of truth. That is my goal.
